Meldrim Baptist Church

Wednesday Night
Prayer & Bible Study

The scriptures in the new testament book of Acts 6:1-4 gives the church today a model of how God grows a healthy local congregation of Holy Spirit empowered members. It is by exercising and practicing the ministry of prayer and the word. Specifically teaching all converts how to observe all that Christ has commanded us, (Matthew 28:20). This was and still is  Christ's command for all followers of Jesus. Other ministries of the church are birthed at their proper time when:
  1. the Lord adds new converts to His church
  2. converts are maturing in the grace and knowledge of Christ living in unity, demonstrating the love and grace of Christ.
  3. converts show evidence of Spiritual giftedness and abilities
  4. converts are evaluated and selected to assist leaders and in time they themselves will be commissioned as they qualify to enter leadership positions as deacons, teachers and other needed workers as the Lord increases and grows converts at MBC.
The Wednesday Night Prayer and Bible Study meets primarily to:
  1. enjoy a time of fellowship, praise reports and worship
  2. hear God's word taught and be encouraged to live it out.
  3. pray for the needs and challenges of MBC members, it's work in the community and the global missionary work it supports.
Equal time is given to each of the three captioned above.
Intercessory prayer is practiced and taught to all age groups, instructing them how followers of Jesus call to God in prayer for the needs and challenges here and the global mission work it supports. MBC teaches and encourages how practicing an attitude of daily prayer is a key to personal and corporate spiritual growth. (2 Corinthians 1:11 , Philippians 1:19, Ephesians 6:18)
Interactive Bible reading and study is practiced to train converts of any age group in rightly dividing the word of truth and applying it (obeying it) in order to live productive lives pleasing to God that supports a biblical world view. (Psalm 19:7-11, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Timothy 2:15). If you're looking for a mid-week service that is focused on the ministry of prayer and the word, look no more. Come, join us, bring your bible and let's grow in the grace of God together,  "let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and spiritual hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God."
Colossians 3:16.
